HOPE (I)

HOPE (I)

I took this image when I conducted my New Zealand Photography Workshop in December 2019. I went to Wuhan soon after this workshop completed. But then I was trapped in Wuhan due to the coronavirus outbreak there. When I was in Wuhan, I picked up this image, tried to process it in its colour form, as I usually did for other images. But frustrating and depressing from Wuhan people's suffering filled in my heart, I just could not feel any colour from the original raw file. I decided to remove all colours from the raw file, and started to seek light from the sky.

I was evacuated from Wuhan by Australian Government Wuhan Evacuation mission on 3 February, and arrived in Christmas Island for 2 weeks quarantine. I finally finished my processing of this image, I named it HOPE. I wish my Wuhan family and all Wuhan people can overcome this coronavirus crisis very soon, and get their life to normal.
